why chocolate for valentine day?

Back in the third century, 270 A.D, the roman emperor claudius II, trying to strengthen his army, forbade young men to marry st. Valentino, a priest who believed in the holiness of love, performed marriages in secret and was executed for ignoring the ban. The execution took place on february 14th, which we commemorate as valentine's day. but why do we celebrate valentine's day by giving chocolate to our loved ones? In 1800's, physicians commonly advised their lovelorn patients to eat chocolate to ease their feeling of grief. The aztecs also believed that chocolate was a source of spiritual wisdom and increadible energy. Why does chocolate stir so many feelings and emotions in us? Chocolate has long been associated with passion, romance and love. As a medicine for love, chocolate has been believed throughout history to bring smiles to the broken hearted and to stir feelings of love in both men and women. Since the days of the aztecs chocolate has been used as a gift. Today a box of luxurious quality chocolate says a thousand thank you's, good luck, or congratulations, im sorry, or get well soon. In the month of love, when lovers are preparing for celebrating the so-called valentine's day, getting chocolate for your loved ones becomes a priority. A simple heart-shaped chocolate that says i love you means the world to some people. To others, it's not giving to each other that matters, but providing another way to make somebody else happy and showing them your affection and appreciation. So, how about you? ;)
